DCP3 includes a comprehensive review of the efficacy, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness of priority health interventions …
DCP3 includes a comprehensive review of the efficacy, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness of priority health interventions with the goal of influencing program design and resource allocation at global and country levels. DCP3 includes nine individual volumes, with the first eight structured around packages of conceptually related interventions, and the ninth providing an overview of main findings. Publicly available resources include journal articles and reports, both DCP3 and non-DCP3 related, as well as presentations, working papers, and book…

Motivated by the need for evidence on cardiovascular disease (CVD) interventions offering good value for the money, the authors conducted a systematic review, including 50 studies. Included studies were those that reported full economic evaluations of individual and population-based interventions (pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic), for primary and secondary prevention of CVD among adults in LMIC. The majority of the studies were of modelled evaluations, with significant heterogeneity in methods. Most of the economic evaluations evaluated were…

Resource PackPublication, Teaching Resource 2018Resource Pack: Economic Evaluation Guidelines
This resource pack includes guidelines for health economic evaluation - methods designed to identify, measure …
This resource pack includes guidelines for health economic evaluation - methods designed to identify, measure and value the incremental resources used, relative to benefits gained, of alternative interventions or policies - with the goal of improving resource allocation decisions by addressing efficiency in healthcare. The selected examples focus predominantly on the conduct of cost-effectiveness analysis. Over the past three decades, cost-effectiveness analysis has gained increasing attention from decision makers in both resource-rich and resource-poor countries.…

This video is intended to provide a framework for a budget impact analysis (BIA) which serves to estimate the cost to a payer of adopting a new intervention over a 1-3 year period and the tools necessary to determine if a BIA is appropriate to undertake. This video is part of the Conducting Cost-Effectiveness Analysis with VA Data (HCEA) free course offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development group…

Ths video is intended to provide a review the HERC Average Cost and the Managerial Cost Accounting data system and the different data sets useful for providing cost and utilization data for research studies. This video is part of the Conducting Cost-Effectiveness Analysis with VA Data (HCEA) free course offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development group focused on cost-effectiveness analysis and budget impact analyses. This video is intended to provide a discussion of different methods that can be used to estimate the cost of a new intervention for conducting a decision analysis. This video is part of the Conducting Cost-Effectiveness Analysis with VA Data (HCEA) free course offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development group focused on cost-effectiveness analysis and budget impact analyses. There were a total of 12 videos produced between January…

This resource pack, curated by the Center for Health Decision Science, features resources on modeling approaches applied to mental health. We aim to provide an overview of different techniques to guide researchers and practitioners in applying decision science and economic modeling to this public health challenge. More specifically, this resource pack contains review articles comparing different modeling techniques in the evaluation of treatments for depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. The majority of articles in this…

This resource pack, curated by the Center for Health Decision Science, is a collection of models of HPV-related cervical cancer, differing in design, structure and features based on analytic objectives. In many ways, HPV and its related diseases represent a prototypical public health problem given the communicable and non-communicable nature of disease, opportunities for intervention along the entire disease spectrum (e.g., primary and secondary prevention, diagnosis, treatment), the varied ages at which interventions are targeted…

This resource pack, curated by the Center for Health Decision Science, provides broad exposure to empirical calibration and validation methods for mathematical models used in health decision analysis. Included are a selection of overviews, guidelines, tutorials, and applications. Given the complexity of diseases and variation in data quality, there are invariably a number of parameters that are unobserved or cannot be estimated directly but can be inferred through the process of model calibration. Model calibration…
