Disease Control Priorities (DCP3)

2021

DCP3 includes a comprehensive review of the efficacy, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness of priority health interventions with the goal of influencing program design and resource allocation at global and country levels. DCP3 includes nine individual volumes, with the first eight structured around packages of conceptually related interventions, and the ninth providing an overview of main findings. Publicly available resources include journal articles and reports, both DCP3 and non-DCP3 related, as well as presentations, working papers, and book chapters for all DCP3 volumes.

Disease Control Priorities (DCP3) extends the work done in DCP1 (1993) and DCP2 (2006) by providing systematic economic evaluation of policy choices affecting the access, uptake, and quality of interventions and delivery platforms for low-and middle-income countries. DCP3 also introduces extended cost-effectiveness analysis methods for assessing the equity and financial protection considerations of health and macroeconomic policies of interventions for infectious and chronic diseases, including conditions related to environmental health, trauma and mental disorders.

The Disease Control Priorities Network (DCPN), funded in 2009 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is managed by University of Washington’s Department of Global Health (UW-DGH) and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME).
