Cochrane Interactive Learning provides over 10 hours of self-directed learning on the complete systematic review process for both new and experienced authors of systematic reviews following Cochrane methodology. It is useful for both introductory-level learners and more experienced learners who want to refresh and update their knowledge. Trainers may use it for blended learning, combining the online modules as an introduction to more advanced learning in a face-to-face setting. Cochrane Interactive Learning consists of nine modules, each…

Trial-based economic evaluations are increasingly conducted to support healthcare decision-making but there are inevitable methodological challenges. This tutorial provides step-by-step guidance on how to combine appropriate statistical methods using a ready-to-use R script, and addresses missing data, correlated costs and effects, baseline imbalances, and skewness of costs and/or effects. The authors also provide the theoretical background of these methods, and demonstrate their application through a simulated trial-based economic evaluation.

This video is intended to provide researchers with an introduction to the second part of conducting a meta-analysis: quantitatively pooling. The goal of this meta-analysis is to synthesize multiple published estimates from parameters of interest (such as disease-related mortality or the efficacy of a treatment) into a single input for use in a decision model. This video is part of the Conducting Cost-Effectiveness Analysis with VA Data (HCEA) free course offered by the U.S. Department of…

This video is intended to provide a discussion on various methods for deriving probabilities that are needed for decision models. Presented are the concepts of literature based Odds Ratios and Relative Risks, which need to be transformed into probabilities, how to deal with probability estimates from time frames not relevant to the model in question, and how to derive probabilities from published summary statistics. This lecture is aimed at the researcher who is interested in operationalizing…
