Monitoring Health for the SDGs: Data Visualization Dashboard

2017

This web portal from the World Health Organization (WHO) accompanies the 2017 report, World Health Statistics: Monitoring Health for the SDGs. Powered by data in the WHO’s Global Health Observatory (GHO), the portal presents visualizations on 22 health and health-related targets of the Sustainable Development Goals from all member countries, covering a number of topics including poverty, health and well-being, malnutrition, sanitation, clean energy, sustainable urban development, and more.

Published every year since 2005, World Health Statistics includes data on mortality, disease, and health system indicators, such as life expectancy, illness and death from key diseases, health services, financial investment in health, and risk factors and behaviors that affect health.

The series is produced by the WHO Department of Information, Evidence and Research, of the Health Systems and Innovation Cluster, in collaboration with all relevant technical departments of WHO. World Health Statistics 2017 has been compiled primarily using publications and databases produced and maintained by WHO or United Nations groups of which WHO is a member, such as the UN Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation (IGME). A number of statistics have been derived from data produced and maintained by other international organizations, such as the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and its Population Division. The World Health Statistics series is supported by the web portal Global Health Observatory (GHO) which is currently the only regular United Nations mechanism that presents comparable data on a large range of health topics from all countries.
