Tutorial: Extended Cost-Effectiveness Analysis

2022

This tutorial supports the teaching pack on Extended Cost-Effectiveness Analysis (ECEA) and illustrates how ECEA is conducted. In addition to the tutorial, materials include videos and a glossary.

The tutorial details the main steps of ECEA which examines four key domains for a given health intervention:

  1. Health gains
  2. Financial risk protection benefits including the amount of private expenditures averted
  3. Distributional consequences (e.g. across socioeconomic status)
  4. Cost of the intervention

This teaching pack was developed by Dr. Stéphane Verguet at the Center for Health Decision Science. Stéphane Verguet is Assistant Professor of Global Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in the Department of Global Health and Population.
