Video 3. Private Expenditures Averted

2022

In this video, Dr. Stéphane Verguet discusses private expenditures averted in ECEA. ECEA takes the perspective of the individuals and households affected by illness and examines the ensuing illness-related financial consequences they face. With the onset of illness, affected individuals’ financial burden can include: direct medical costs paid out of pocket, direct non-medical costs (e.g. transportation costs to seek care) paid out of pocket, and time losses, which can be translated into wages lost.
