Human Development Reports: Data Portal

2024

This data portal provides access to the United Nations Development Program’s Human Development Report data for the most current year and displays trends since 1990. The core aggregated metric presented in the HDR is the Human Development Index (HDI), a summary measure of average achievement in key dimensions of human development: a long and healthy life, being knowledgeable, and having a decent standard of living. Other indices include the Inequality-adjusted Human Development Index, the Gender Development Index, the Gender Inequality Index, and the Multidimensional Poverty Index.

Human development is about expanding the richness of human life, rather than simply the richness of the economy in which human beings live. It is an approach that is focused on people and their opportunities and choices. Human Development Reports (HDRs) have been released most years since 1990 and have explored different themes through the human development approach.
