IFORS

2024

The International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS) began in 1955, is composed of 50 national societies, and promotes the development of operational research (OR) worldwide, both in methodology and practice. Activities include publications, conferences, website and newsletter, special programs for developing countries, an educational resource wiki containing lectures, books, videos and slideshows, and a distinguished lecture series.

IFORS publishes two journals: International Transactions in Operational Research (ITOR), and International Abstracts in Operations Research (IAOR). ITOR aims to advance the understanding and practice of Operational Research (OR) and Management Science internationally, while IAOR provides a database of abstracts from the world’s OR/MS journals, as well as supplemental and specialized journals whenever these are relevant to the philosophy, methodology, or practice of OR.

Publicly available information includes announcements of local and international conferences, activities of member societies, updates on IFORS committee activities, links to national societies and regional groupings, the IFORS newsletter, and educational and training material. Additional members only resources include educational material such as case studies, methodological readings and algorithms, including a collection of interactive web-based tutorial modules on generic OR topics.
