Videos: Part 1. Using Test Information I

2022

This multimedia segment, Part 1. Interpreting Information includes two videos. In the first video a practice question provides an opportunity to use information given for the prior probability and test characteristics to calculate the posterior probabilities given a positive and negative test. In the second video, the solutions are reviewed and the relationships are visually sketched out to show the influence of the sensitivity and specificity on the posterior. In addition to the videos, materials include an instructor's note, companion slides, a glossary, an annotated bibliography, and sample exercises.

Multimedia segment Part 1. Interpreting Information (Videos 1.1, 1.2) should be followed by Part 2. Using Likelihood Ratios (Videos 2.1, 2.2) and Part 3. Practice Using the Odds-LR Form of Bayes (Video 3.1).

This teaching pack was developed by Sue J. Goldie at the Center for Health Decision Science, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The multimedia components were developed as part of a series of pilots in the CHDS Media Hub, led by Jake Waxman, where media-based pedagogy experiments contribute to new ways of thinking about short form content.
